Coating

Anti-reflection method used for the surfaces of optical components

Reflections from a surface can be minimised by applying a special layer, the thickness of which is approximately half the wavelength of visible light (thin layer). In a lens and with an optical filter, this reduces flare and thus increases image definition and contrast. High-quality lenses and filters are coated with a number of layers of this type in order to cover a greater range of the spectrum. In this case, we referred to "multi-coating" (MC).
