User control and logging

A vision system only works well if it is set-up correctly. As user skill levels can vary significantly, a good vision system should provide the ability to control what each user is able to do.

Taking this a step further, the pharmaceutical industry requires solutions to be 21 CFR Part 11 compliant. Essentially this means that there must be an audit trail covering all changes to the system, so that if inspection parameters are changed, a record is kept of who did what and when.

This image is taken from an application that uses passwords to restrict and log changes to a vision inspection system, leaving an audit trail to show what was changed, when it occurred and who changed it. Some systems even support central user logging of all vision systems in a factory providing a central audit trail.
