In almost all industrial sectors, automation and quality assurance would be virtually impossible without the use of machine vision systems. Machine vision technology allows the systematic recording and processing of complex processes, thus allowing efficient analysis, process optimisation and fast troubleshooting. The use of high-speed machine vision systems in this process guarantees a high level of flexibility and functional safety.
The unique features found in Mikrotron’s EoSens 3 CL high-speed camera provide an excellent platform for many such applications. This 3 megapixel CMOS camera offers a frame rate of 285 images per second at a resolution of 1696 x 1710 pixels. The option of only reading out image data from the area which is vital to the application (termed ‘region of interest’ or ‘area of interest’) increases the acquisition frame rate up to 175,000 images per second. The EOSens 3CL is available in both monochrome and colour versions and uses a 1.2" CMOS sensor with global shutter. The image data is output via CameraLink at a maximum of 8 or 10x8 bits.
