AVT Manta: More Models, More Choice, More Flexibility

16 Mar 2011

Allied Vision Technologies has added two new models to their range of Manta GigE Vision cameras featuring Power over Ethernet and the modular concept.

Nearly half a year after the introduction of the new entry model with GigE Vision interface Allied Vision Technologies adds two new models to the Manta camera series. The optional versions from the AVT modular concept offer even more flexibility. The new versions feature a Power over Ethernet interface and two new sensor versions of the new models Manta G-033 and G-504. The Manta G-033 complements the AVT camera family at the lower end. It utilises a 1/2" Sony ICX414 sensor with VGA resolution (0.3 Megapixel) and especially high light sensitivity. The Manta G-504 extends the upper end of the Manta series to the maximum resolution of 5 Megapixel. This model features the highly sensitive 2/3" Sony ICX655 Super-HAD CCD sensor.

For even more flexibility, all Manta models now offer optional housing variations from the AVT modular concept. These include, for example, angled- head versions for more easily mounting the camera into small spaces. A board- level version with no housing and up to 200mm connection bet¬ween sensor and main board is also available whilst a white medical design housing is available for scientific and medical applications.

The highlight of this approach is the new optional Power over Ethernet (PoE) version which will be available for all models in the range. PoE allows the Gigabit Ethernet interface cable to supply the camera with power as well as carrying the image data, removing the need for an additional power supply and cable.
The camera is connected to the host with only one cable. All the host needs is a PoE supporting network component.

According to AVT, the PoE versions of the Manta models will be already available in April. Thanks to the new modular concept versions, the PoE option and attractive pricing, the AVT Manta range becomes even more interesting for the user.
