CAT5e or CAT6?

26 Feb 2012

We have developed a new CAT5e specified cable for robotics and drag chain applications.

All manufacturers recommend using at least category CAT5e cables for imaging applications. Generally we recommend at least CAT6 cables for standard applications. Cables according to this standard are specifically designed for voice and data transfer as well as multimedia and ATM networks. Therefore they are ideal for imaging applications in order to achieve highest data integrity.

The range of specific CAT6 cables suitable for robotics and drag chain applications however is limited. Our cable development therefore designed a new CAT5e specified drag chain compatible cable. This new cable will immediately replace its predecessor. Besides improved electrical transfer properties we now offer these cables with moulded connectors. Such solid connection to the drag chain-compatible cable is the ideal solution when using RJ45 plugs.

Furthermore we offer the new cable with horizontal or vertical fasteners common for imaging applications. Thanks to mechanical casting we were able to reduce production costs, and we will forward this price reduction to our customers.

As with all drag chain-compatible cables by STEMMER IMAGING the outer material consists of high quality Polyurethane (PUR) in order to withstand the high stress. Naturally the cable material has been designed taking into account the latest standards and is therefore free of silicone, adhesive-repelling substances, halogen and CFCs, it is oil-resistant and UL-approved in order to fulfil the northern American market requirements.

Individual tests and inspection protocols for these new cables ensure highest quality standards. This new cable perfectly complements the high quality drag chain and robotics cable portfolio by STEMMER IMAGING.
