STEMMER IMAGING and Common Vision Blox: Two anniversaries

21 Sep 2017

30 YEARS STEMMER IMAGING

20 YEARS COMMON VISION BLOX

Europe’s leading imaging technology provider is celebrating two anniversaries in the autumn of 2017.

STEMMER IMAGING GmbH was founded by Wilhelm Stemmer on 1st July 1987. From the very beginning, the company focused on the field of imaging, which was then a very young technology and almost exclusively used in the scientific environment. In the past three decades, however, this technology has rapidly progressed and has become an essential part of today’s life.

Since its foundation, STEMMER IMAGING has been regarded as one of the most important pioneers in the imaging and machine vision industry and has established itself as Europe’s leading imaging technology provider over the past 30 years. More than 260 highly skilled experts in 19 European countries support their customers in finding the best technical solution and the most cost effective combination of components for their imaging task.

Our mission is to provide users and developers of imaging applications with a competitive advantage by enabling easy access to quality machine vision technology, expertise and support, delivered with passion.
summarises Christof Zollitsch, one of the two managing directors of STEMMER IMAGING

The turnover of 88.7 million Euros generated in the previous fiscal year and the company’s development over the past 30 years show that STEMMER IMAGING’s range of products and services fully meet the requirements of their customers and the market.

This also applies to a special product which was introduced by STEMMER IMAGING in 1997 and which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year: Common Vision Blox (CVB). This modular, platform-independent programming library provides machine vision developers with extensive possibilities for the fast and reliable implementation of demanding imaging solutions. The powerful software library, which was largely created by the former head of development and today‘s managing director - Martin Kersting - 20 years ago, includes basic functionality for image acquisition, image access, image display, coordinate transformation, image normalisation and much more.

The main objective of CVB’s development was to provide our customers with a flexible, modular software platform that enables them to create a powerful machine vision system using a wide variety of hardware components.
recalls Martin Kersting, managing director of STEMMER IMAGING

„Today, Common Vision Blox is successfully used in thousands of imaging applications in a wide variety of industries throughout the world“, Martin Kersting is pleased with the success in the past two decades. „With more than 80,000 machine vision systems installed, Common Vision Blox is one of the most widely used software platforms for imaging and machine vision. More than half of our customers also use the CVB CameraSuite, our operating system independent SDK based on Common Vision Blox.“
